So, between yesterday and today, between grocery shopping trips, making dinner, and cleaning, I made two bathing suits. The first, a pink floral frilly number, and the second a goldenrod malliot (which is my favourite, and I will keep the sample for myself).
I purchased several yards of spandex on line, and it arrived within days! I've been wanting to delve into swim wear for a while now. I've always had a hard time finding bathing suits I am comfortable in. While I am petite, I've got an ample chest, and curvy hips and I feel like I should be on Baywatch or in some sleazy magazine whenever I put on a bikini... not to mention the discomfort of constantly having to make sure your bosom is still covered by the little fabric triangles...
I'm thinking these will be much more my style... besides, if you ask me, a little modesty is very, very sexy.
Besides swimsuits, I've been working on another soft bra, and filling orders. Last week I got a ton of orders that I am trying to get finished up before starting my new job.
Wow, I love the goldenrod swimsuit. Where did you find such gorgeous fabric?
ReplyDeleteWow, love both of them. Very pretty--the pink is so fun and flirty without being too revealing like a bikini.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! I love the designs of both swimsuits. You did such a great job. I would love to know where you found that fabric?

It takes so much confidence to be both modest and sexy - and nothing is sexier than confidence:) I looove my sweet new undies! Best of luck with your new job!
ReplyDeleteThe bathing suits are lovely! I agree about wearing a one piece, too. I think what you choose to reveal, and what you don't, says a lot. Not to mention, Victoria Beckham wears one pieces. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteWow, what gorgeous swim-wear...I love it!!! And I'm so pleases to hear that the orders are picking up...you'll be running Ohhh Lulu full time before you know it ;o)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I can never find swimwear that I like, but I love these!

I am a very beginner sewer but I love it and want to get better! I am IN LOVE with your yellow suit. Did you have a pattern or make it up? What kind of fabric do you use and where did you get it? Pretty much, how can I do something like that!!?
ReplyDeleteThose are great swimsuits, very original! I especially love the design of the maillot. I really like the fringe on the bra's cup edge. It almost looks like selvedge, but fancy.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on finishing the mechanic job! Now on to bigger and better things :)
oooh i love the back on the top one and the fabric and cut of the yellow one. soooo pretty!!
ReplyDeleteI am just heating into sewing swimwear also and look forward to reading about your swimwear projects. I love that floral fabric.
ReplyDeleteHello Sarah, I adore these swimsuits, especially the first one, it's so beautiful! I also wanted to tell you I gave you an award on my blog, xoxo!
ReplyDeleteJust popping over from Sew Retro to say WOW! Both of these suits are just gorgeous!
