I'm feeling a bit stressed this morning. This weekend will be a repeat of the last... getting up at 6am to answer emails then sewing until I just can't sew any more. I'm so grateful that I am busy, I just wish I had more hours throughout the week to devote to sewing, as opposed to all of my weekend hours. I need a mini-vacation! I'm feeling a little worn thin... Its been a busy few weeks.

To cheer myself up, here's my adorable little dog, being adorable. |
I am also very sad because I completed a rush order last weekend and made a bra & a pair of panties too big. Such a disappointment! It's so nerve racking sending someone the fruits of your labour. I put so much of myself into each piece it's heartbreaking for me when something doesn't work out. I keep reminding myself that my mistakes are few and far between, but it still sucks! You are your own worst critic, right?
Yesterday I left work a little early and cleaned up my gardens, which were weedy and grassy... I repotted a mandevilla vine and a hanging basket that had fallen down and broken, and planted a wistera vine to grow along the lattice work under our back deck. It's supposed to rain all day today, which is good... I won't feel so guilty about staying indoors all day. My plants will appreciate it too! <3
Anyone up to anything special this weekend? Can I live vicariously through you?
I feel you! I just spend yet another weekend cleaning instead of sewing. The GOOD news is both kids have a bedroom that doesn't look like a storage room and they might even want to spend time in them. Now I'm trawling around Spoonflower to find curtain fabric.
ReplyDeleteHave you bought from Spoonflower before? I am so intrigued!
DeleteOh, I'm so sorry that you're stressed! I'm feeling a bit of pressure myself as I'm in the process of moving, so packing like a crazy person this weekend! But if anything can cheer you up, it's a pug! I have two, and they're always up for a cuddle. :)
ReplyDeleteIn such a case, when somehow I am not sure a bra would fit well, I tell a customer when sending a parcel what I have reasons (and explain them to the customer) to doubt that the bra would fit her correct and that's why if the bra doesn't find exactly right I will make another one implementing needed changes with all arising expenses on my side. Of course it is not a pleasure to reveal the customer beforehand an item may fall in fit but it is better to be safe than sorry. This way the customer feels comfortable. So am I:))

DeleteThat is a good philosophy :) I do free remakes if the error is mine. Every body is so different, sometimes it's hard to get it perfect without being able to fit along the way.
DeleteIn this instance, I made my customer 7 garments, and all but 2 fit, so I'm not sure what happened there! I guess that's what happens when things get rushed... :)
**edited*** I am awake too early for a sunday morning!!
I think if your customer doesn't make a drama of it you don't have to as well.
ReplyDeleteKeep creating, stop upsetting:))
very true! No sense in being hard on yourself, so long as the customer is happy! I am feeling better about it today. I am lucky to have amazing customers!
DeleteI too have pugs! They are very good at cheering you up!
