Sewing Machine...

Friday, February 3, 2012

I sew on an awesome Pfaff that does more stitches than a girl could ever need. Thing is... the sewing machine is actually my Mom's...

So, I've been looking at sewing machines on and off, and just recently saw the Singer 160.

Looking at the specs, it does what I need. A straight stitch, zigzag, and button hole. However, I don't want to spend $500 on a sewing machine that is a glorified toy... But it's SO PRETTY! and So me.

  4. I have one and I LOVE it!

Only problem is it's more complicated to thread than it needs to be (the tension mucks up and requires some fiddling and swearing to fix). It also doesn't need the auto-matic needle threader as it takes up too much space and takes longer to thread the needle than the old-fashioned way.

It sews like a dream though and well.. it's exceptionally pretty :)

  5. I was talking to my sewing machine guy about this one and he told me to pass on it. Not because it's a bad machine! It's a perfectly good machine, but I have higher standards. (not that i have _high_ standards, I'm just not a beginner anymore)I also asked my favourite question, the one which makes it or breaks it, how does it sew in finer, thinner fabric? He told me to go look for another machine.
