Back To Work... Sadly...

My day off always goes far too fast.
I'm so looking forward to the weekend. I have great plans for a date night with Dan, Farmers Market in the morning, a Wedding in the afternoon, and a walk through the forest on Sunday morning... and of course a Sunday afternoon Sewing Session as well. I really can't think of a better way to spend the weekend.
I didn't get nearly as much sewing done as possible, but got a couple of things cut out. I need to make a trip to Toronto soon to find fabric for my Wedding Dress and Bridesmaids Dresses.
On that subject, I have found the perfect dress, that will be made with some minor alterations... I am going to try some on as well, but this is really what I have in mind... but tea length! I foresee a lot of applique in my future.

Days off..
Wednesday, September 22, 2010
Today was/is my day off... I cut out two camisoles, and two pairs of french knickers (floral as shown here, and red and black plaid). I also have some ideas kicking around in my head for some obi-style belts that I might attempt to bring to life today...
I really love this camisole pattern. I have made two so far. It is based off of an original 1970's lingerie pattern, bias cut, and really pretty. I love the airy-ness of the chiffon under a nice sweater for fall.
I have also been making these cowl-back blouses from a 1960's Vogue Pattern. I have made two so far, the chiffon one here, and a blue crepe one with sleeves... I think I've decided I only want to wear chiffon from now on.
I just got back from the vet, which occupied a good chunk of my day off. Poor Oliver has an ear infection (actually ear infections, as it seems to be in both ears)... I feel awful for not noticing earlier and I have to admit, his little floppy ears look so red and sore! I feel like the worst puppy-mommy every...
I am counting down the days until the weekend (as usual). Dan, my fiancee (I am still no where near being over that!), and I are going to a Wedding on Saturday, Farmers Market Saturday Morning, and Scout's Valley on Sunday to check out the fall colours. On Tuesday we are checking out the venue for our Wedding Reception! I am getting so, so excited, and really maybe should be starting on my dress soon.
Sewing... lots of sewing...
I have done a lot of sewing over the last two weeks. Two cowl-back tops (one with sleeves, the other sleeveless), a black chiffon bias cut camisole (pictured here), red plaid soft bra.... and I am contemplating my wedding dress. I have been having a lot of fun with Chiffon lately... french seams, rolled hems... I love this stuff.
Dan and I spent some time this morning picking flowers and getting some ideas for the Wedding. The more and more I think about it, the more and more excited I get.
At first, I was under the impression that planning a wedding was going to be really hard, and aggravating, and over-all a whole lot of work for a one-day affair. However, I'm just finding the whole thing really fun! After all, this is where I excel: colour schemes, organizing, lists, and planning! Maybe I'll curse these words 11 months from now.

Yesterday I drafted my first pair of pants in years - High-waisted with two small pleats, and tapered legs. Pants that a few years ago I would look at with disgust.
I found a piece of black and white pinstripe wool that was just enough to cut the legs and waist band. Everything went together ridiculously well, except for the fact that I cut the waist band a we bit too small. It will come off on Saturday or Sunday and a new one will replace it.
They turned out really cute, with little belt loops, mock fly, and side-slit pockets (in teal satin) and I can't wait to wear them!
Dan and I are hoping to do a mini-Ohhh Lulu photo shoot on Saturday, then I will be posting my first batch of Etsy stuff soon after. I have four days off next week, so hopefully I will be more productive than has been my current situation...
